On zero-error coding of correlated sources

چکیده
The problem of separate zero-error coding of correlated sources is considered. Inner and outer single-letter bounds are established for the achievable rate region, and conditions for their coincidence are investigated. It is shown that successive encoding combined with time sharing is not always an optimal coding strategy. Conditions for its optimality are derived. The inner bound to the achievable rate region follows as a special case of the single-letter characterization of a generalized zeroerror multiterminal rate-distortion problem. The applications of this characterization to a problem of remote computing are also explored. Other results include i) a product-space characterization of the achievable rates, ii) bounds for finite block length, and iii) asymptotic fixed-length rates.

A Method to Reduce Effects of Packet Loss in Video Streaming Using Multiple Description Coding
Multiple description (MD) coding has evolved as a promising technique for promoting error resiliency of multimedia system in real-time application programs over error-prone communicational channels. Although multiple description lattice vector quantization (MDCLVQ) is an efficient method for transmitting reliable data in the context of potential error channels, this method doesn’t consider disc...
متن کاملZero-error Slepian-Wolf Coding of Confined Correlated Sources with Deviation Symmetry
In this paper, we use linear codes to study zero-error Slepian-Wolf coding of a set of sources with deviation symmetry, where the sources are generalization of the Hamming sources over an arbitrary field. We extend our previous codes, Generalized Hamming Codes for Multiple Sources, to Matrix Partition Codes and use the latter to efficiently compress the target sources. We further show that ever...

In MTSC, correlated sources are separately encoded but jointly decoded. With appropriate modeling of all kinds of correlation among three non binary correlated sources, in this paper we propose a method for performing IMTSC among three sources. Due to the possibility of providing an approach for practical code design for more than two correlated sources in IMTSC/CEO setup, the multicast system ...
متن کاملNetwork Coding for Correlated Sources
We consider the ability of a distributed randomized network coding approach to multicast, to one or more receivers, correlated sources over a network where compression may be required. We give, for two arbitrarily correlated sources in a general network, upper bounds on the probability of decoding error at each receiver, in terms of network parameters. In the special case of a Slepian-Wolf sour...
متن کاملWyner-Ziv Coding in the Real Field Based on BCH-DFT Codes
We show how real-number codes can be used to compress correlated sources and establish a new framework for distributed lossy source coding, in which we quantize compressed sources instead of compressing quantized sources. This change in the order of binning and quantization blocks makes it possible to model correlation between continuous-valued sources more realistically and compensate for the ...
